When I first envisioned creating a Victorian-inspired wedding venue in Fairborn, I imagined romance—the lace, the chandeliers, and the love stories written within historic walls. It felt dreamy, exciting, and full of promise. In many ways, it has been just that.
But here’s the truth: it has also been one of the hardest, most demanding, yet most rewarding chapters of my life. Owning and growing The Main House Events while working a full-time job and raising a family hasn’t been easy. It has involved late nights setting up for showers, early mornings balancing motherhood and emails, and countless hours thinking of creative ways to host events that bring joy to others. What started as a fun adventure quickly became a true lesson in entrepreneurship, perseverance, and faith.
Balancing Motherhood and Entrepreneurship
Being a mom has shaped everything I do at The Main House. Motherhood teaches you to multitask, love deeply, and keep moving forward even when you’re exhausted. All of those lessons have carried me through venue ownership.
Some days, it feels like I’m living in two worlds. By day, I work my full-time professional role. By night (and weekends), I’m running a woman-owned, Black-owned business that strives to be a place of beauty and belonging in Fairborn. My children have grown up watching me work events, fold linens, and dream bigger than I thought possible. It hasn’t been perfect, but it’s real—and that’s what makes it meaningful.
The Struggles Behind the Beauty
People often see the final product—the glowing lights, the perfectly set tables, the happy couples. But what they don’t always see is the behind-the-scenes hustle.
The events that didn’t work out the way I planned.
The endless trial and error of pricing, marketing, and vendor partnerships.
The weight of investing time, energy, and resources into something that doesn’t always pay off right away.
There were moments when I questioned whether this dream was too big, too demanding, or too much for one woman to carry. But each time, the vision pulled me back: to create a historic, intimate venue where love and community could flourish.
The Joy That Makes It Worth It
Despite the hustle, the joy always wins. I’ve seen couples walk through the doors and immediately know they’ve found “the one.” I’ve shared tea and laughter with guests who felt like family by the time the event ended. I’ve partnered with incredible local vendors who believe in the same vision: that small-town charm can create grand, unforgettable memories.
Every chandelier I polish, every event I plan, and every detail I obsess over is worth it. I know The Main House isn’t just a venue. It’s a place where people begin new chapters, celebrate milestones, and create stories that will outlast us all.
A Love Letter to Fairborn
Owning a business in Fairborn means more than just running events. It means being part of a community that supports local, celebrates history, and values togetherness. It means showing my children—and every young dreamer—that with love, hard work, and resilience, even a Black woman entrepreneur in a small Ohio town can breathe new life into a historic home and turn it into something beautiful.
Creating Lasting Memories
At The Main House, we believe in the power of memories. Each event is an opportunity to create something special. We strive to make every moment unforgettable. Whether it’s a wedding, a family reunion, or a corporate function, we pour our hearts into every detail.
We understand that these moments are significant. They mark milestones in life, and we are honored to be part of them. Our goal is to provide a warm and inviting atmosphere where everyone feels welcome.
The Importance of Community Support
Community support has been vital to our journey. Local businesses, friends, and family have rallied around us. Their encouragement fuels our passion. We believe in giving back, too. Supporting local charities and initiatives is a way for us to show gratitude.
By working together, we can create a thriving environment for everyone. We are committed to fostering relationships that uplift and inspire.
Closing Thoughts
Victorian Dreams, Modern Hustle isn’t just a catchy phrase—it’s my reality. It’s the tension between the romance of the dream and the grind of the work. It’s the balance of being a mother, wife, professional, and entrepreneur all at once. It’s about choosing joy in the middle of the struggle.
To every woman balancing motherhood and entrepreneurship, every dreamer thinking of taking that leap, and every couple searching for a venue with heart—The Main House is here. Not perfect, not effortless, but full of love and history.
Let’s create something beautiful together.
